What is the difference between a regular cleaning and a deep cleaning?

A deep cleaning refers to a more intensive cleaning of the teeth and gums than a routine cleaning (or prophylaxis). It typically includes scaling (removing plaque and tartar buildup below the gum line) and root planing (smoothing the root surfaces to prevent bacteria from re-colonizing). During your initial exam, we will thoroughly examine the health of your teeth and gums to determine what is right for you.

During this visit, our team performs a full assessment of your oral health. From blood pressure checks and digital X-rays to periodontal evaluations and oral cancer screenings, every detail is designed to ensure your smile is as healthy as possible. We use advanced technology like our 3D intraoral wellness scans and Velscope cancer screenings to detect changes that can’t be seen with the naked eye.

Once your assessments are complete, your hygienist, doctor, and you sit down together to review everything, answer any questions, and discuss your goals. Initial Consultation

Once you are ready to join our family of patients, schedule a new patient exam. At this visit, we will take digital photographs of your teeth and smile, along with any necessary x-rays. One of our expert doctors will take the time to perform a very thorough exam of your mouth and teeth.

TREATMENT PLAN

Together, you and the doctor will discuss your questions and concerns as well as findings from the exam. From the information gathered, we will create a customized treatment plan to achieve your goals.

SCHEDULE FOLLOW-UP APPOINTMENTS

Your personal treatment consultant will then discuss fees and financial options with you. And together you will schedule your treatment as planned. It may be convenient for you to have a routine cleaning on the same day. Just ask and we will be happy to schedule these appointments together for your convenience.By the time you complete your new patient visit, you will already be a part of our family of patients. You will also have an assistant you know by name who will walk you through treatment and be available to answer any questions or concerns.
